A New Look for Central Florida Clean Cities Coalition
Some of you may have noticed that the Central Florida Clean Cities Coalition (CFLCCC) has a new look…actually, there is more to it than that! In addition to the new website and logo, we also have a new hosting arrangement that provides the resources to better support the alternative fuel community in Central Florida, and an expanded Board of Directors to provide input and support.
We hope you like the new look and we look forward to expanding our activities in the Central Florida region. Please let us know how we might help your fleet become more engaged in alternative fuels and Energy Efficient Mobility Systems (EEMS).

2019 Goals for CFLCCC
CFLCCC relies on a strategic plan to guide our efforts to support fleets in the Central Florida region. We are engaged in many efforts in that support, below are our focus areas for 2019:
Listening Sessions – CFLCCC will conduct several sessions to learn from our stakeholders how we can best support their goals and challenges.
Funding, Incentives and Compliance Coordination – Florida will received over $166 million as its share of the VW emissions settlement. CFLCCC will expand its role in this area by providing a Florida Clean Cities website that will keep our stakeholders up to date on the VW settlement as well as other programs that support AFV engagement.
Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Development – CFLCCC will continue its leadership role in the designation of Alternative Fuel Corridors and the expansion of alt fuel infrastructure.
Fuel & Technology Outreach – We will present an Alt Fuel Technology Update webinar to provide information on the latest advancements and applications. We also plan on conducting an alt fuel workshop and will provide a Central Florida Alt Fuel Resource Guide.

City of Orlando Fleet CNG Fueling Expansion and New Electric Terminal Truck
Green Works Orlando scored two more hits as they continue to drive towards operating the entire City Fleet on 100% renewables by 2030. CFLCCC’s Board Chairman, David Dunn (Orlando Fleet and Facilities Division Manager) along with Mayor Buddy Dyer and CFLCCC board member Horacio Cervantes (Peoples Gas Business Development Manager) participated in the event.
The City of Orlando unveiled their newly expanded TECO Peoples Gas Compressed Natural Gas Timed Fuel Station in late February. The station fuels the expanded fleet of solid waste refuse trucks with clean burning natural gas.
Also unveiled at the event was Orlando’s new Orange EV Electric Terminal Tractor, which will be used by the Water Reclamation Division. The tractor replaces a Class 8 tractor, further reducing the city’s diesel fuel consumption.

Volkswagen Settlement Update
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) is the designated beneficiary for the State of Florida’s $167 million VW settlement funding. The state intends to manage these funds through its Diesel Emissions Mitigation Program (DEMP). The FDEP has conducted public meetings and an online survey to collect input on the use of these funds and has developed a plan for public review and comment. Although unconfirmed, the plan is now expected to be release in late April or early May.
CFLCCC has been involved in recommending uses for the funding and is involved as a fuel agnostic expert in the alternative fuel conversions associated with the eligible use of these funds. We will notify our stakeholders about the plans release as soon as it becomes available.
