National Drive Electric Week: September 26 to October 4, 2020

National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) has officially started! Running from September 26 to October 4, 2020, NDEW is an annual nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Every year, hundreds of local activists across the country host events that feature electric car displays, ride-and-drives, informational booths, and other fun activities. These events allow people to learn about electric vehicles first-hand by talking to EV owners and examining the vehicles.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has disrupted most traditional Drive Electric Week events, causing many organizations to host virtual events instead. These online events are free and can be accessed by anyone around the country, providing an excellent opportunity to learn more about EVs. Web events will feature informational sessions, notable guest appearances, EV demonstrations, local tips, and more. A full list of upcoming events can be found here. A few local Florida organizations are hosting their own virtual events, which are highlighted below.

This online event is completely free to the public and there will even be a virtual test drive conducted. To host this event the City has coordinated with the Space Coast EV Drivers Club, a local EV enthusiasts club that currently contains over 100 vehicles and members who are dedicated to electric vehicle education, and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) via their Electrify the South campaign.
